FOR THOSE WHO COULD NOT ATTEND LAST NIGHT'S MEETING, WHO WAS NOMINATED AND FOR WHAT OFFICE?
nominations
Since there were a number of people who were nominated and who were not present, I wanted to first contact them to see if they accepted. Once that is done we will post the nominations, most probably in the eweekly that goes out to all members.
I thought the purpose of announcing the nominees is so members can consider voting for them. What's the point of announcing those who don't accept?
I don't see why the rush anyway. If I care enough, I would have gone to the club meeting Tuesday.
"""I'm still waiting to see the club's 2004 Financial Statement and the Minutes of the Board of Directors' meetings from February, May, June, and July. ""
""Waiting""? What's that suppose to mean? And with all those ""cares"", you still don't go the the club meeting. Have you done that, you would have know who were nominated, including the name of those who weren't there and wish to decline.
I could be wrong. But all I see is only a tempest in a tea cup!"
At least fifty people at the meeting heard the names. Why the secrecy? What innocent is being protected?
Since attendance at NYCC meetings is so sparse, it might be in order to amend the Club's By-Laws to permit nominations for Club office by email, fax, USPS, and even telephone.
"...need to add ""web master"" to the board list. need to include digital distribution and the new membership fee. when we dug up an old copy of the nycc bylaws and scanned to pdf, many people were shocked to see the bylaws were so out of date. last change was made in 1981!

If 5 people were nominated for secretary (all whom were at the meeting) and four declined, I don't see any reason to report anyone but the person that was nominated and accepted. I think that extends to anyone who was not at the meeting and then declined. If there is a strong desire to know all those who were nominated, call a friend who as at the meeting and ask. Call me.
Although the bylaws specifically say that nominations are taken from the floor at the Sept. and Oct. meetings, over the past four or five years, nominations have also been taken by email and phone.
And Don, you are absolutely right....
The bylaws need to be updated! Should have been done a long time ago. This will be discussed at the next bd. meeting.

...from the bylaws up on the nycc site? if not, let me know if you want the current pdf (which is just a bunch of compressed bitmap scans stitched togehter to make one multipage pdf) converted to text. ocr ain't perfect but it's close enough to get a good start.
