My wife and I will be staying in NYC for 4-6 months and would like to road cycle. Does anyone know of a store that offers long term bicycle rentals? (We're 5ft 6in and 5ft 1in). If yes, please provide name and contact details.

long term bicycle rental
I've been watching ebay for a used Trek 2300 and I can tell you that they really hold their value. It may be cheaper for you to buy new bikes and resell them in six months. My guess is that a $2,100 new Trek 2300 will resell easily for $1,600+ in six months time. That would cost you about $100/month for the use of a new bike.
I'm not sure where you live, or if you have a bike of your own, but it doesn't cost very much to ship a bike (no more than $50 for domestic US). If you're coming from overseas it will cost more to ship, but I'm sure it's still cheaper than renting one...
Look on the web at the site for Recycle-A-Bicycle, and then when you get to NYC, go to their DUMBO store, and buy a decent used bike at a great price. Good values, fine for getting around and some road riding. And the .org is a good cause.

I was actually looking for long term bike rentals in nyc myself just last month was I was on vacation. I googled long term bike rental and this company called Deliver A Bike popped up. They offer multi days, overnight, and weekly rentals for really reasonable prices. My girlfriend and I rented 2 road bikes for 1 week for just $70! Some other places in nyc were charing as much as $60 for one day. The owner was nice and so was his staff. In my opinion, if your in nyc looking for cheap transportation on decent bikes then this is the place for you.
