That's not fair
A lot of 24 hour racers need more than one headlamps. I bet the original poster already has one. But you need a second one (or at least the battery) while the first one is being recharged.
Sure, if someone is making it a habit to race 24 hour races, they might as well get a second set. But it's a waste to have TWO headlamps for that once a year (or once at all) race.
I've never race one (and never will). But I've worked on one. Have you (so you know what the hell you're talking about)?

Yes you are correct, I already have one, but we either need another light or just a battery. At $100 or more a piece, extra batteries can be expensive and I am not sure how many of these I will do, so at this point in time it is not worth the cost.

What model headlight do you use?
I have a NiMH battery from a niterider headtrip you could possibly use. But if you lose it or break it, I expect a replacement.
