Hey everybody as you can see in the title of teh thread im looking for a team preferably in the CRCA. Ive been riding for around a year and feel like it is time for me to take it to the next level. Please email me or post back if you are willing to take a few laps with me around the park to become aquainted with me and my riding. Thanks very much.

Finding a Tea(m)

Hopefully others with more knowledge will post, but here is my 2 cents.

I have been told that the best way to get on a team is to start doing the CRCA races. That way you can get to know the players and they can get to know you. You do not need to be on a team to race. Last weekend a guy in the B race won without a team.

Joining the CRCA also gives you access to their free coaching. This is another way to meet people and find a team to ride with.

Out of curiosity, have you raced before? What kind of rider would you consider yourself in NYCC terms?

Yes I am a member of CRCA, im 16 years old, and I would consider myself to be able to ride in the A-19 classic, if thast what u ment by what kind of rider.

Are you the Sam I met on the A-19 Sig this year?

Have you done the beginners clinic or any of the C races?

You might want to try to contact the Columbia University cycling team. They may have suggestions of how to get on a team with similiar age groups.

Miya Shoji is a CRCA sub team with some pretty young guys. Not sure how you get in touch, but Google it or something.

"You have been riding for a year, or ""racing"" CRCA for a year? If you have been riding for a year and are at an A-19 pace, you need to pick it up to be competitive in CRCA. A-19 equates to four laps of Central Park in 1:16 to 1:20. Meanwhile, the lowest level of CRCA racers average about 15 minutes per lap for 4 to 6 laps. No offense intended about your prowess; I'm assuming a lot about you because you don't post much info.

If you show up for 90 percent of the CRCA races and then do well (top 10s, aggressive attacks, breakaways, strong climbing) soon enough teams will notice you. If they don't, you're not competitive enough. You should still come out and chat it up with team riders, and go to the coaching sessions. Also read/post on the message board at www.nyvelocity.com. Good luck and hope to see you out there."

But that's in a pack. I may be wrong, but I don't think that Cat. 5 racers generally can ride 4 15-minute laps solo, without aero-bars. So the difference is not as great as it might seem, as far as fitness is concerned.

My opinion: Celestial Seasonings Red Zinger has done more for racing in the U.S. than any other tea."

Celestial Seasonings

If you don't mind bending the rules a bit and getting your drink from the orange pot, Jittery Joe's may be worth a look, too. Thanks for the laugh, Mordecai!

drinkin' teams

Lipton has an elite womens team. I'm not a tea drinker myself. The Coors Light team was more up my alley, but light beer tastes like tea to me. Kahlua also had a team. Corazon and Makers Mark are currently sub-sponsors of two of the local racing teams, as were Rosie O'Grady's and the Playwright Tavern.

Coffee and Tea are fine for some...

"but Sierra Nevada (Pale Ale) represents the best liquid team.

Colovito Olive Oil may have better results (as a race team), but it's not what I'd call a ""refreshing"" liquid."
