"This week, John Z. is away and has left the reins to moi. Which means two things; ""Bronx"" and ""pizza"".

We meet at the Boathouse and head up to tony North Bronx nabes. After a sufficient period frightening the locals, we head southeast to Throg's Neck and finish with beers and destination-class brick oven pizza at Tosca. Thereafter, a twenty-block-C12-paceline gets us to the #6 subway heading back to Manhattan.

As we will be on city streets the whole time, I'm waiving the fat-tire requirement for this ride. That said, fat tires, suspension and front/rear lighting continue to be the hot setup for rapid, after-dark urban excursions. If you have 'em and can move 'em ... bring 'em.

A18/30 miles
URBAN ADVENTURE
Leaders: John Zenkus, Neile Weissman

Meets 6:30PM at the Central Park Boathouse

Meet 6:30 PM every Wednesday for an ever-changing exploration of New York City and its environs. Depending upon the time of the year, expect a 2-3 hour nonstop ride. Required will be some sort of fat-tire bike, good handling skills and a helmet, as the route may include cobblestone, rough roads and occasional off-road -- where we can find it. Lights are also required. While not a fast paced ride, those participating should be able to maintain a 18 MPH flat speed riding a fat-tire bicycle. This is a 4-season ride and if conditions are questionable, check the message board. Post ride dinner is always an option."

----------------------------

I grew up in a predominently Jewish section of apartment houses a half block south of Pelham Parkway . The north side of the Parkway comprised mostly Italian-owned private houses.

It's still a quite nice working-middle class area.

Oh, now I get it.

"As in ...

""So's Evan ('the Mark') Marks and Neile ('the Wheel') Weissman will head uptown to see Tony ('North Bronx') Nabes to finish unfinished business."""
