What do most people wrap the tubes of their bikes with when they park it on the street...tape, old tubes, etc?

Thanks,
B

Are you worrying about the weather rusting your bike? If you have a nice bike (insert your opinion), you should bring it in your place, if not then don't worry about wrapping it.

Protecting your bike

I'm actually commuting with this bike and will be locking it up outside during the day (it'll be tucked away in my apt at night). I'm more conscerned about nicks/scratches than anything else.

If your bike is worth anything to you...

If your bike is worth anything to you, I would not lock it up outside.

The more nicks and scratches on your bike the better. The less likely it will get stolen.

Although if it has two wheels and is rideable, it will probably eventually get stolen.

A suggestion I got from this list is to use two different kinds of locks. Make sure both locks go around the immoveable object. The theory was that most theives will only carry one tool needed to break one kind of lock. If you use a chain and a u-lock, then they would need two different tools.

Also, do not park it in the same place every day. Someone with interest will note it's/your schedule making it easier to steal.

The only way to avoid cosmetic damages is by not riding it.
