Both CNN and the Detroit News reported that Cadillac is now coming out with a line of bicycles to attract younger buyers. It is alledgedly thinks these are ""luxury bicycles"" that would normally retail for $600 to $1,900. I think if they want to market to their core constituency they should take cues from Bike Forest.

Cadillac is not helping their image with this one. Kent Bicycles in NJ is building these things and their dealer network covers such well know shops as Sears, Walmart, and K-Mart. They also have a line of Tonka and GMC branded bicycles. What all these companies don't realize is that if you want to sell lifestyle products, then you should make them premium products. This would make more sense if these were Chevy branded bicycles. There are lots of people that would pay for the name and premium, but they want a product to match that name, quality and premium. Lots of people shell over $5000 for bikes that they will never fully use and the same logic should apply here. Sorry for the rant, but that's my two cents.
That's what I remember of Kent bikes too.
Lighten up. They are making the bikes to attract younger buyers. Maybe you should retire (no pun intended) the soapbox and turn to channel 20 on your cable system. Cadillacs are still in and the kids dig them.
