What constitutes a fat tire bicycle?
In my coral, 25mm is my fat tire bike. I am guessing you are refering to something bigger than this.
Also, I know you have done a lot of rides around the bronx, where I currently live. Due to a four letter word I do not like to mention, I will probably never make it to one of these rides. Do you ever post the route sheets of your rides? Maybe a UAR section in the ride library.
Generally speaking, a hybrid, cross or mountain bike is required for multiple reasons: 1) Improved resistance to the dreaded 4-letter word, as we tend to ride on roads the do have some glass; 2) We seek out industrial areas, cobblestone streets and abandoned rail road lines. 3) We have found some true off-road trails, albeit limited.
Why do we do this? First, for the fun of exploration. Second, we are often riding in areas with limited traffic, which is starting to seem safer than Central Park.

What's the view on the weather forecast? Meant to be rain at 6pm according to inaccuweather. Hoping to join you guys tonight.
Sadly I cannot ride tonight. Just had a tooth extracted. (in the last hour).
See you all next week.
