As long as it's not raining I plan on going - but I've never been out there (Queens) on a bike - do people take the train/subway/bus/taxi : ) How long does it take if I ride out and what roads would I take? As you can see, I have a few questions - thanks for anyone's help!

Queens

You can get to Kew Gardens easily by bike- take the 59th Street bridge and then get onto Queens Blvd for ~10 miles. I live around a mile or so from the meeting point, but if I was coming from Manhattan, I'd take the train. The 10 miles are NOT scenic, and the road is not always in the best of condition.

Subway- take the 'F' or 'E' train to Union Tpke, be towards the front of the train (first two cars), once thru the gate, make a left, then another left, climb the steps and... voila.

It won't be raining, but it will be hot

I do the ride down Queens Blvd 2 or 3 times every week. It's almost exactly 7 miles from the Queens side of the 59th St Bridge. The scenery is no different than any other NYC road and the road surface is as good as any other in NYC. There should be almost no traffic at that hour.

The easiest entrance to the bridge is at 60th Street and 1st Avenue. It should take less than 40 minutes from there.

Thanks, Ron and Ralph

Thanks for a great ride. Enough shade to keep us cool, enough hills to keep us hot, and 70+ miles with only one stop. A perfect A Ride.
