Am looking to install a hitch rack on my Honda Odyssey. Can anyone recommend a place to have hitch installed in Manhattan, other than Honda dealer?
Also, does anybody have any recommendations about which Hitch rack to buy? There are the standard Thule/Yakima ones with arms but also some intriguing (and expensive) looking ones where the bike wheels sit on trays rather than hang on the arms.
Thanks in advance
Michael

I OWN AN ODYSSEY AND WILL ASSUME YOU DO NOT HAVE A HITCH ON YOURS.

IT IS QUITE EXPENSIVE TO GET THE HITCH, ATTACH IT AND THEN YOU NEED THE BIKE RACK WITH THE HITCH ADAPTER.

I HAVE USED A TRUNK MOUNTED YAKIMA LIL JOE. DESIGNED
FOR 3 BIKES. I USUALLY FIT 2 SOMETIMES 3 BY REMOVING A WHEEL. MY COST WAS ABOUT $49.00 FREIGHT INCLUDED ON EBAY.

THERE ARE BETTER ONES SINCE THE ARMS DO NOT FOLD WHEN NOT IN USE.

WARNING, MAKE SURE IF YOU PURCHASE THIS STYLE THAT YOU MAKE SURE IT WILL NOT INTERFEAR WITH YOUR REAR WIPER USAGE.

I WOULD START IN A GOOD LBS THAT CARRIES A SELECTION.
TRY OUTSIDE NYC. DANNY'S IN WESTCHESTER OR PIERMONT IN TENAFLY ETC. THESE STORES ARE BETTER AT CATERING TO CYCLISTS AND THEIR CARS.

GOOD LUCK

U-Haul at 23rd and 11th

Many years ago I had a hitch installed by U-Haul on my Chevy Blazer. They know exactly which one you need and the installation was very professional. Their model even used the pre-drilled holes on the frame of the Blazer. My guess is that if Honda offers a hitch as an option the holes are on your car already which means U-Haul would only need to bolt a hitch on and not drill...which is always safer.

I now have a Subaru with a factory hitch and a Yakima hitch rack for my bikes which I love. I would never go back to those strap on racks...just too dangerous. It is also nice because you can get Ski adapters for the rack if you want them.

With a hitch you also have the option of towing a trailer. By getting the hitch from U-Haul you also get the U-Haul wiring harness which works with all of their trailers and most otehrs too.
