"This year I planned only one 200K out of NYC to concentrate more on the PA and traditional Princeton routes. As the only NYC 200K nears, I've decided to offer it as a NO CHARGE brevet. PRE-REGISTRATION is mandatory .... you can register only by active.com. This is your entry form.
START/FINISH: Should be known June 30 and posted at www.njrandonneurs.com.
This is a perfect opportunity for members of NYCC to see what a ""bare-bones"" brevet is all about. Usually the brevets have volunteers at the controle points but this ride will have convenience stores where you get your card signed by a clerk and you produce receipts. Sometimes there will be an informational controle - a question is written on the controle card and your answer can only be found by riding the route.
For SIG graduates, the 125 miles will be ""cake"" .... the brevet heads over GW and northwest toward Greenwood Lake and through Harriman using roads, I'm sure the NYCC does use. You can use this route for training throughout the year. There are no markings on the route but the cues are right on!
You do not need to be a Randonneurs USA member to participate. You just need permission from me (RBA) to ride the route. Send me an email to [email protected] and I will prepare a brevet card for you and give you more details.
This 200K time limit is 13.5 hours, plenty of time to finish if you have been riding. If you can ride 80-100 miles hilly terrain, you should be able to finish this brevet. There is NO SAG. If you think you'll finish in or near dark, please read the rider rules on lighting and come prepared. If the sky gets dark because of rain or rain is obstructing you from being visible, also plan for lighting.
