I came across this - while waiting for the Tour de France - (sorry for my plebian translation). For the complete article and photos:

At 2.5km from Labastide-d’Armagnac, in the middle of vineyards, is a small chapel, dating back to the 11th century, which has been dedicated since 1959 to the heroes of the Tour de France. Fanatics of this race visit it each year in an ambiance mixing fervor and nostalgia.

This chapel was dedicated as a pilgrimage for cyclists and inaugurated in 1959 throught he efforts of Abbot Massie, who was an ardent cyclist.

Since that date, the greatest as well as the most humble of racers came to leave their jerseys, their bikes, their helmets and to say a little prayer to Our Lady.

Before entering the chapel, one can read the inscription engraved at the feet of Our Lady:

<< Mary, queen of the world, please deign to bless and protect the cyclists of France and of the world, and help them to complete with success and happiness the principal and ultimate stage, the one that leads to heaven. Amen>>

The Power of Prayer

Perhaps there aren't as many pilgrims to the chapel as there used to be:

Notre Dame des Cyclistes

I passed by this place a number of years ago. Unfortunately, it was closed --on a Sunday no less. Peeking through the windows, it was as described. Not as impressive as Madonna di Ghisallo, but another example of the richness and tradition of our sport.
