I wanted to run the NY Marathon with a friend, but we were unlucky with the lottery and did not manage to get entries.
Can anybody help me get two tickets to run the maraton?
Thanks,
Ranieri

Bike option

There's the NYCC club ride that covers the course just before the race. No tickets required.

May I recommend...

...Philadelphia or Chicago? Philadelphia doesn't have great crowd support but people say it's much faster than NYC, with a less crowded start.

Chicago is fantastic, no hills at all and tons of spectators.

It used to be that selling or transferring NYC marathon numbers resulted in permanent banishment from all NYRRC events for both parties if you are caught. I can't imagine that the policy has changed. I agree with Maggie that Philadelphia is a great marathon, but of course there is nothing like NYC...

You don't really want to run the marathon with someone else's #

There is no glory in it doing it sureptitiously.

Do the qualifying runs for next year or run a qualifying time.

2007

Actually, if you're not a member of NYRR (since Jan 2005) - unless the rules have changed - the earliest you can ensure entry is November 2007 (without running a qualifying time in another event).
- You must be a NYRR member in January of the year you do the 9(?) qualifying races.
- Completion(?) of these qualifying races ensures guaranteed entry for following year.

Do another marathon in the meantime if you wish but everyone should do New York at least once!
