Good News!

Good news...the SIG commencement is Tuesday, June 14, and the opera in the park special event is Wednesday, June 15 (or even June 16, if rain on Wednesday).

Bad News...

"Although there is an Opera in Central Park on the 15, the June NYCC special event ""Opera in the Park"" is scheduled for June 14, the same date as the monthly meeting and A19 SIG commencement."

Read It and Don't Weep

"June 2005 NYCC Bulletin, page 2:

""Special Event Metropolitan Opera on the Gt Lawn. Bring your beach chairs and blankets, Pinot Grigio and bread and cheese on Wednesday, June 15th at 8pm (rain date: Thursday 16th), and let’s sit outside under the stars and listen to the world’s greatest opera company perform its annual free concert series in the park. The evening’s program features selections from Saint-Sae¨ns’ Samson et Dalilah. Volunteers will be needed during the early afternoon to secure a perimeter. We’ll hoist a distinctive shark-shaped kite to serve as a marker. If you can help, please contact Dave Sabbarese at [email protected] or call him during the day at 212-756-3209.""

==========

So, I don't know where you saw the 14th, but I'll take those exact copy-and-pasted words from the current club bulletin as more exact."

Still weeping...

David, thanks for the info. The original posting for the NYCC Special was emailed as the 14, which is Tosca. I was hoping they would change the Monthly Meeting date, rather than the opera, because I work on the evening of the 15 and will have to miss the A19 commencement dinner at the monthly meeting because I am obligated to go to the opera on the 14.

Oh well, I'll miss my mates at commencement...

Actually, I just noticed this notice on the NYCC web schedule...

June special event
Lounge with your fellow NYCC members on the Great Lawn of Central Park on Tuesday, June 14th, 2005 and listen to selections from Puccini’s Tosca performed by the The Metropolitan Opera. We need volunteers to stake out a space. Email Dave Sabbarese at [email protected] if you can help. For full details Click here.

Where is your info from?
