For cyclists riding from Metro North stations on Friday May 27th, note that we have arranged for two trains from Grand Central Station:
The 8:50AM is for cyclists riding from Southeast (Brewster), 60+ miles.
The 9:48AM will accommodate cyclists riding from Dover Plains or Wassaic, 35-40 miles.
Please arrive at GCT early enough to buy a ticket, find you way to the platform, to get your bike properly stored, etc, etc.

The weekend information packet will be distributed by e-mail, we need your email address. If you haven't provided it or are not sure you did Email us at [email protected] and tell us where you are staying too.

Sorry, registration for the May 29th dinner has closed.

Questions, of if you have space for someones luggage:

You more likely may need wading boots.

They're Gore-Tex

But the latest on Accuweather doesn't look bad, and I am bringing raingear.

Where do you see predictions of heavy rain?

Berkshire trains

I have to work a half day on Friday and want to take an afternoon metronorth train up.... I have a bike pass - as long as it is not a primetime train they will let me and my bike on.... am I correct?

AccuWeather and weather.com both predict possible showers and thunderstorms at times this weekend. But you know with weather reports. We'll see what really happens. Playing it safe by bringing rain gear is of course a good idea.

Room available in Sheffield.

Being largely averse to social interaction, it's a given I won't be among you at Sheffield this weekend. However, I did have occasion today (Wednesday) to speak with the owner of Birch Hill B&B on Rte. 41 in Sheffield in mid-afternoon and he wishes it to be known as of that time he still had a room available for the weekend. Are we allowed on the afternoon trains with bikes?

Can someone please clarify: I realize we have a special permission to carry the bikes on the 2 morning trains (8:50 and 9:48), but what about the afternoon trains? I cannot leave work before 1pm-is renting a car my only option, or does this bikes on trains permission extend to the rest of the day? I am sure I am not the only person not being able to leave early in the morning, so I am hoping I can take an afternoon train to the Berkshires with no issues. Thanks!

Trains

As you read above it appears that no, we can not take our bikes on the train friday afternoon... therefore my friend and I have resoolved ourselves to renting a car to drive up ... don't know if we can fit three bikes in whatever we try to rent (calling around today) but if you would like to join us (cuts costs) email me... afternoon train

I'm planning to take the 1:58 pm train from 125th St to Dover Plains with my bike. Despite the rules, I've never had a problem in the past and have done it for many years. Hopefully, this year won't be different.

afternoon train

I'm not worried about it as I've never had a problem before at that time on the Friday of Memorial Day w/e. It's not a rush hour and not a large group of bikes.
