This situation would be the same for black shorts as well. Black was the chosen color as it gave riders, who at one time, were required to do their own repairs on the road, a place to wipe their hands, as it hid the grease stains.

Never wear white shorts before Memorial Day or after Labor Day.

Red is ok, but I wouldn't think to ride with white shorts in wet weather. Being that it rains alot in April and May, and definitely a given on Memorial Day weekend in this area, Uri's advice is probably a good one.[]"
