C'mon Peter, this really really really should be in the FAQ section (IOW, I'm getting tired of posting it every few weeks).
"There's alot of ""history"" in the message board database, about 11 megabytes worth. It's always a good idea (netiquette) to search first before posting wether here, on another message board/forum or a usenet group."
It would seem to me that your email, Peter, flies in the face of your so-called 'netiquette.'
"It's not my ""so-called"" netiquette; try 2.5 million netiquette - Google hits And what ""email"" are you referring to? Please give a clue. Or is that more like get a clue before posting. It's your first time posting and it shows. What an introduction to getting your feet wet. when you find some creditability, please let me know.
Of course this would me a moot point if the original poster did a search before hand. I didn't raise the issue. I could have raised the issue a zillion times in the past, including recently, with the ""Who is Craig Upton?"" queries.
Instead, Evan is imposing more work on me that requires *my* time. Hence my reply. If anything, I'm the one in need of a break."
Way to go, guys. I expect Ann has gone off and joined another bike club by now.
Much like the other respondents in this thread, you're being presumptuous that she had joined this bike club and anon comments are just as much voluntary sniping.
Maybe Evan will create such a FAQ, as he promised a while back on this msg brd. (it's really not necessary, read on as to why) Then when someone posts such a query we could all dump on that individual for not consulting the FAQ first. Wouldn't that be pleasant?
Almost as pleasant as someone politely pointing out how much good, archived data already exists and then getting dumped on as a result for pointing such out by an ignorant fellow.
Or maybe someone could post say once a week a new thread asking about bike fit or used bicycles. Maybe you don't mind reading repetitive, recent queries, but others do. [see Evan's response].
The information is already there, under search. Unlike a FAQ, it's not static information. Someone could easily pull up said thread and if they wish contribute some new information or ask another question which hasn't been asked, etc. which would further benefit those who consult this message board. It's been done here before and it works out quite nicely.
What is more immediate and rewarding than getting the information you need so quickly by searching? By now it should be 2nd nature. Searching is a whole cottage industry, e.g google, yahoo, msn, ask, etc. in response to overwhelming demand. It sure beats the alternative of waiting an hour, 2,3,..., day or two waiting for response.
Peter, the list of used bike sources that I keep posting *is* the answer to the FAQ. Do you need it in some other type of format? Let me know. I doubt I have the necesssary computer skills but I'll try.
