I did it last year. Very flat & much is off the main highway & through nice neighborhoods. It's well supported with good rest stops. Enjoyed it alot. The early morning train from Penn Station to Babylon is a kick - half bikers raring to go and half passed out kids dressed like hookers on their way home after a night of clubs!

a good ride

It’s a good, early season ride (nice scenery, rest stops, easy roads) provided the weather cooperates. A head wind for 140 miles can get taxing, so it pays to ride with a group to share the load. Then again, if it it’s like last year, it was pretty much a breeze with a nice west wind. Only other advice, some of the twists and turns toward the end (last year”s route) can slow down the pace, especially when you just want to finish after a long day in the saddle. Some prefer to put their head down, lock it on Rte. 27, and hammer to Montauk.

Evan -- yes, I have registered. They're giving away free cycling socks to the first 1,000 to register, and I think they're still under that.
