Are there any A19 siglets out there looking for weekday morning riding companions to go over the GW around 6 am?

Another Uptown Girl...River Road, 9w, or Edgewater/Tenafly hills

I was wonder the same thing. I would be willing to join you, Joann. I prefer closer to 6:30 or 7, but I can make the effort to start earlier.

Are you planning to do all of River Road, or just part of it based on when you need to get back to the city?

I typically ride Tues/Thurs, although any morning could work. I also tend to ride for 1 to 1.5 hrs (half hr or 45 minutes out, and then turn around wherever I am).

I have been doing this on 9W, but to add some variety, I have also been doing this on a route that takes me to Churchill, Walnut, Booth, or one of the other hills in Edgewater/Tenafly, just to get some hill practice in. I like River Road too, but will opt out of Riv.Rd. if the roads are slick.

Let me know what you are planning.
Other A19s - feel free to respond here or send an email.

Maybe

"I could probably make it some mornings, but I would be on my commuter bike (See the ""Is it worth anything"" thread). I would need to be back at the bridge by 7:30 am to make it to work. I cannot start this week, but probably next week."

Tuesday 3/22 ride at 6:30 am

Sounds like we're meeting Tuesday 3/22 at 6:30 AM - meet at the NY side of the GWB (before the ramp).

As long as the roads aren't slick with ice or rain, we'll probably do as much of River Road as your time allows.

I think I saw you guys this morning!!

Today was my 1st day commuting to work, (Jersey City), and I saw a group of 3 or so by the bridge. I was in the Langster, whenever you want you can keep me company going south on River Road.

GWB bike path hours questionable

Heath, I'm not sure if you have to cross the GWB to get to River Rd from where you are, but I think the bridge bike path is still closed from midnight to 6am.

Maybe that will change at some point. I couldn't find any reports on the Trans. Alt. site, but the NY-NJ Port Authroity site still says it's open - http://www.panynj.gov/tbt/GWB_about.htm. Seems that they haven't updated the site since the new GWB hours were implemented during the Republican convention.

6am

Well I guess it needs to be 6am then.

Has anyone tried riding over the GWB bike path at 5:30am. Is the door actually locked? And does it open promptly at 6am? Or is it like every other city thing and opens whenever they feel like it.

No RR ride Thurs 3/24 - See you Tues 3/29

Our little A19 River Road group is coming together nicely.

Unfortunately, we've decided not to ride on Thursday 3/24 due to these crazy weather conditions. There is ice piling up on the ground here uptown, and snow and sleet is still coming from above. We have a feeling it won't dissipate by 6:30 in the morning. What a funny way to begin spring!

We'll look for everyone next Tuesday 3/29 at 6:30 am at the NY entrance of the GWB (before the ramp). Let's cross our gloved fingers for clear, sunny weather!

BTW, others are welcome - just remember that most of us have been riding regularly for about 4 weeks now, so we will be riding close to an A19 pace on those newly paved roads.

If it is up to me

As far as I am concerned, the more the merrier.

River Road early tomorrow

If anyone wants to join me, I'll be at the entrance to the GWB (NY side) at 5:15 tomorrow (Tues.). I went across the bridge between 5:30 and 6 last week, so I assume it's also open at 5:15. For those of you who were wondering, I'll let you know.

Rain or Shine?

Does rain cancel, or are you riding either way.

I think I am going to bail if it is raining at 4:30am. Too cold for me to get that wet.

Weather for wednesday looks great

It was too soggy to ride this morning but Wednesday should be beautiful. I'm planning on leaving from the Manhattan side of the bridge at 6 a.m. for an approximately 25-mile ride, if anyone would like to join me.

Soggy!

Yes it was quite soggy, but we had a good ride this morning. The gate was opened at 5:20am.

Ouch!!

This thread demonstrates why obscenity laws are pointless. Meeting at 5:30 a.m.? Meets MY definition of obscene!

Still Riding Tues & Thurs Mornings - Note TIME CHANGE

Hi all,

We're still gathering Tues & Thurs Mornings for River Road rides. Since the sun has been warm and bright during the early mornings, we will start a bit earlier this week - 6:15 AM (instead of 6:30). We hope you can join us!

B17-18s, feel free to join us too! River Road has its ups and downs - but there are some really nice, smooth flats that everyone can do at a nice clip. You'll have no trouble keeping pace. Seriously!!
