While it will be a bit messy, tomorrow's A-Classic STS Prologue is on with two considerations: 1) we are going to stick to 9W, out and back; 2) we are going be very cautious early on of ice conditions in the suburbs.

Dress for the cold

Right now Accuweather predicts winds of 10-17 mph and a wind chill of 20-22 until 1pm.

If those conditions hold, then the A18 subgroup I'm leading will make a few laps in the park, while the fast guys head north.

Please come introduce yourself. You get extra credit just for showing up. (Ice fishing gear optional.)

Relatively warm

The first couple of hours will be cold but should warm up after noon. I'm up for Nyack.

And ...

... remember, heading north into the hillS usually means lower temps. 10AM in midtown it's 31, Piermont 25, Alpine, 27! Don't get a flat while you are sweating. :-0

Prologue? Cautious?

It's last week's news but I just wanted to say I had a great time on Saturday's ride. We rode like it was 70 and sunny when in fact we spent a good deal of time in what seemed like a snowstorm but was merely heavy flurries. The sun came out in the afternoon.

It was intense. And fast. And fun. If this is the prologue, I am a little intimidated and excited by what the riding will be like in 8 or 12 weeks.

Thanks Craig for a great ride.

Prologues

"Chris;

I am glad you enjoyed the first Prologue; too bad I was down with an ear infection. This Saturday is another Prologue. The purpose of these two rides is to 1): let newcomers obtain a sense of the ""program""; 2): shake the legs out and become accustomed again to riding in a paceline. The first ""real"" ride is on March 12 and that's when the fun begins..."

And...

...there is also a very unintimidating group, led by yours truly. (Whose pace will pick up as the ride leader sheds a few pounds.)

On Saturday I wasn't at all worried by the snow because Accuweather predicted an hour or two of flurries. Wasn't it lovely to be out in it?

If I may speak for the lead group, safety remains a big issue even at faster speeds. No one wants an injury--it interferes with your riding schedule.
