Are there any plans under way for a B STS?

B STS

Excellent suggestion. I would be very interested in joining a B STS. If the club does organize one, you can count me in.

Sounds like you guys are volunteering! I'd do it, but I've got a B SIG to attend to.

I'm interested if the rides are held on Sundays.

(Are all SIGS/STS on Saturdays?)

B STS

I have no problem with Sundays - I just want to ride...

There have got be a lot of people who have graduated SIGs and are now on the SIG wait list who will want to take advantage of an opportunity to get some core miles in before the season starts in earnest.

It would be nice to have trained ride leaders, but I would be happy even if it was just a simple Sun (or Sat.) pick-up ride?

Are the SIGs filled?

"""There have got be a lot of people who have graduated SIGs and are now on the SIG wait list who will want to take advantage of an opportunity to get some core miles in before the season starts in earnest.""

Does this mean that the SIGs are filled for this year?"

B-SIG Filled?

No, while the B-SIG is close to being filled, what that means is B-SIG graduates are put on the waiting list...the idea being that those who've never taken the B-SIG have first dibs.

Why

Why don't the B-Sig grads that want to ride again lead another B level group if the B-sigs continue to fill up?

SIG

"Despite what some people think, there isnt much difference between B-18 and A-19. Certainly not when it comes to speed of the ride. The A-19 club rides that often go 20 or 21 are very unlike the A-19 SIG. The speed is controlled and doesn't even get to 19 until the last few rides. In fact, the first 4 or 5 rides we've scheduled are under 16-17 on flats and not over 60 miles. Some of the key differences in the two SIG'S are tighter pacelining (which is taught over time...not expected on the first few rides), greater level of concentration, promotion of hand signals over voice communication and maybe a few other minor points. We're having a ""meet the leaders of the A-19 SIG"" ride scheduled for Sat, February 19th. It's a B pace and maybe 40-50 miles. A good opportunity to find out more before making any decisions to join us. Email me and I'd be happy to answer any questions or help dispel any fears. No matter what...enjoy the upcoming cycling season and may the wind be always at your back."

If it helps to constitute a B-STS, I plan to ride a B-16+/- at a distance of 60+ miles each Sunday over the next few months.

If someone else has comparable already scheduled, I'll join.
If not, I'll submit to lead a ride through the B-ride coordinator.

Neile's Sun. B rides could be a B STS

Could we get a show of hands of those of you who'd be interested in a B STS on Sundays?

Hand waving too

A B STS on Sundays would be perfect for my schedule. Count me in for a few of those rides too. I have a feeling a lot of people who don't regularly check the boards (especially in the winter) would also be interested. With you and Ira taking the helm, I say go for it!

B STS

Karen,

Due to my work schedule I will only be available to participate and not take any leadership role in a B STS.

I will be happy to help on any ride I am able to attend.

Jobs I'd be good for are; blocking the wind at the front until I lose some weight, or clean up on the hills since I'm always the last one up anyway.

I will look forward to any rides posted.

Ira

B STS / Regular B Rides - It's Up to You

I made a round of phone calls and emails to most of the people who led the B STS last Spring. None of the same people were interested, so mention of a B STS was removed from the club website.

Based on this thread it's obvious that people are interested in riding on a regular basis. It looks like several posters here are willing to help get things started, so my suggestion is that you submit some rides via the online ride submission system ASAP. Whether or not they are called STS rides it looks like people will show up.

The deadline for having rides listed in the print bulletin is this Friday. We could really use some more B ride listings for March and April aside from SIG rides, so I hope some of you expressing interest here will offer some listings - STS or otherwise. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out.
