GWB Glass Alert

There is a lot of glass all over the GWB. I rode a week ago and also yesterday (11/30). I suggest you ride slowly and keep your eyes open. I have asked bridge workers about 4 times to report the problem but so far no response. (Perhaps we should come out with a broom.) But in the meantime, ride the bridge carefully.

"I would like to reply to the gentleman who stopped me on the bridge yesterday morning, as I was returning from a nice little ride to State Line. He flagged me down, so I thought he had to tell me something important. He couldn't even wait for me to remove one of my ear buds. ""There's a whole bunch of broken glass,"" he said, motioning toward the center of the bridge span. ""What, new glass?"" ""No, it's been there a week.""

And he had to stop me to tell me this? After I already saw it this morning, and for the past several mornings?

Please, if you're going to stop somebody, make sure to tell them something important. There is a pothole three feet wide. The road is closed. A cop is ticketing cyclists for riding two abreast. A smattering of glass does not count.

"Oh, and I suppose ""lawabiding"" follows *all* the laws of the road.

And what, pray tell, is the supposed relevance to the discussion at hand?"

Just wanted to give a little context to your behavior, but I think Christian has said it all, and quite clearly.

Yes, people trying to be courteous can be such a bother.

What a jerk!

That was probably me

That was probably me. I stopped you and several other riders because I was hoping to save you the trouble of fixing a flat. When I first discovered the glass last week, a rider was fixing a flat about 7 feet past the area of broken glass.

More than that...

GWB apparently has bigger problems.

(Note that the only reason I don't cut and paste relevant sections is lack of time)

midnight bike ban

And yet we can't bike over the bridge in the middle of the night because of security reasons, or has that rule been suspended?
