NYC Helmets

I think I've seen Limar helmets at Conrad's, but call first (212-697-6966).

Garneau possibility

"I know we prefer to patronize ""pure"" bike shops, but Scandinavian Ski Shop on 57th 'tw 5th and 6th used to sell Garneau helmets and, I think, Briko as well.

And given how often we all pound the pedals towards Nyack and Piermont, it might be worth checking Piermont Bicycle Connection.

Garneau

For sure, Piermont Bicycle carries Garneau. Toga used to carry Limar and may still. Bicycle Workshop on 501 in Tenafly did the last time I looked. Of course, if you're sure of fit (but who is?), the catalogues have a fair variety and do some heavy discounting this time of year.

Scandinavian looked like it was closed for good the last time I passed by.

Sorry for the false lead.

Trek Vapor

I got mine (with visor) at Habitat for about $45. Three years ago they were highly rated by Consumer Reports; don't know what the status is now. If you hear otherwise, please share.

Catlike

I recently switched from Giro to Catlike which fits me much better (the Kompact 2, not the Kompact). Excel Sports (internet) sells 4 basic color Kompact 2s and Procyclingkit.com sells various European team Kompacts and special ordered me a team (Kelme) Catlike in the Kompact 2 style which fits me better than the Kompact.

Yeah, I see every brand in existance in the catalogs that I get. The only hard part is trying them on. They're all WAY too small and 2-dimentional
