KRYPTONITE OFFERS FREE PRODUCT EXCHANGES TO ALL CURRENT OWNERS OF KRYPTONITE TUBULAR CYLINDER LOCKS

If you currently own a Kryptonite tubular cylinder lock and are concerned about the security of this lock, Kryptonite will exchange this lock for you with a comparable non-tubular cylinder lock.

To participate in the exchange program, please send an email to [email protected]

You will receive an auto response asking you for information including your name, address and lock type. It will also give you information on exchanging your lock. Kryptonite will pay the postage for all exchanges. Please note that this email address sends an auto response – do not send questions to this email address as it is not monitored. If you have questions, please send an email to [email protected]

We expect locks to begin shipping in mid-October.

Holy cow!

1) This is an _excellent_ response to the problem. This is probably the only thing Kryptonite could have done to retain their eminence in the lock business. I predict this will be studied in business schools for some time to come. Clearly, they had a good crisis management team. Good for them!

2) We're probably lucky Kryptonite got purchased by Ingersoll-Rand. I doubt an independent Kryptonite could have done this.

Good times,
- Christian

Kryptonite assured that the replacement lock simply cannot be opened with a Bic pen. This one takes a Montblanc

Lock replacement

I was really amazed that OnGuard has extended the same offer.

They actually already did this the day after the videos surfaced on CraigsList.

Overall, I am impressed by both co's commitment to stand by their products.

Or else...

They insure your bike for $500-$3500 if is stolen. It is much cheaper for them to send a new lock than pay that kind of money...

If you've read the details on the Kryptonite insurance policy, the likelihood of actually receiveing an insurance settlement seems more than slightly remote. I think the insurance policy is pure marketing.
