CAPITALS

"Why the capitals? And perhaps more mysteriously, why the poor, lonely uncapitalised ""the""?"

Escape New York - Sept 18th

"Escape New York Ride on Sept 18th - Come for the fun of it!

Grammar humor aside, Jordan, please join us for a fun ride on Saturday -

""Escape New York"" a classic annual event for our organization. There will be ride leaders to help if you want to try riding in a group, or you can ride on your own. There will be plenty of people along the routes - leaders, groups, support wagons, marshals, as well as hundreds of individual riders. Plan for an all day ride - choose your route - 50 miles, 62 miles, and 100 miles. Come enjoy the fun, and learn about the New York Cycle Club.

Oh, and to answer your other question about what is expected of you and how you can make the ride the most enjoyable --> We hope you'll bring your smile, good humor, & a bike that's in good working condition - that way you'll enjoy the company of others while you're on this smooth, pleasurable ride far from the big city. Come Escape New York!

There's more information here:
http://www.nycc.org/rides_eny.shtml

""Whether you enjoy riding at a leisurely pace, or speed along at 22 mph, we have a great ride for you. You and your friends may choose to follow the markers and cue sheet on your own, or you may prefer to join one of our guided groups. And of course, we ride to eat—there are lunch stops and snacks on all three rides.""

One clarification re support

One clarification. I'm not sure if there are support wagons on this ride, but some snacks and water are provided along the way.

We always recommend that you keep a few light snacks + bottles of water attached to your bike (as well as whatever you like to carry to make a day of riding comfortable for you).

ENY is September 18th

"Thanks to Karen for that great description of ENY. Watch out - you may be recruited for the committee next year!

We provide a lot of food for our riders at several rest stops - Sakura, Saddle River, Piermont, Rockland, and Tenafly. The different routes make different stops. There will be pb& j, wraps, cookies, fruit, gatorade & water in addition to ice cream at the end at Sakura.
The club slogan ""we ride to eat"" really applies to ENY!

We will have a few vehicles available to SAG riders but only when its really necessary. As an urban based cycling club only a very small portion of our membership has a car.

Please join us on our ride! We looking forward to seeing everyone this Saturday!"

What happens if the weather isn't good? Is the ride rescheduled or canceled? What happens to that most important food?
