I saw one of these at Totem

A few years ago I saw one of these bikes at Totem, the design store in Tribeca. The store no longer exists.

Totem had the bike called 'Extravaganza' designed by Marc Newsom. The sales people in the store didn't know much about the bike, so I didn't take it seriously. It seemed like a odd prop in a cool furniture store.

I don't know anything about the engineering or quality of the bikes.

The bikes on the website are designed by hip young product designers, not typical bike engineers. The emphasis seems to be on style, not necessarily function. Although I love that some of the frames are painted with glow-in-the-dark paint. Some of the frame materials are wild.

Both Marc Newsom and Ross Lovegrove are important players in the Design world. (I'm not familiar with the other person mentioned.) They mostly design furniture and household objects. They create things you might see at the Museum of Modern Art design store. Note that the website is from Denmark.

Hi Evan,

They have them at ClearlyFirst, 980 Madison Ave. Saturdays 11-6, if you're going tomorrow.

Though a devotee of Scandinavian design, I think these seem more than a bit silly. At least at 3,700 USD for a Nexus 4 hub model.
