Thanks to whoever came up with the idea of setting up a swap table for last night's meeting. Three of my unworn jerseys found new homes. Evan Marks sold a pair of shoes (and he still has a saddle available, he said).
Bargains for the buyers, clean closets for the sellers--excellent idea. Will it become a regular thing?
Also, thanks to Pieter and Rich for their informative presentation on organizing bike tours. Having done a bit of touring on my own, I found Pieter's advice and cultural insights helpful. And Rich's high-tech visuals were enjoyable--made me want to take a vacation.
And thanks again Fred for the tire. It was fun carrying home on my bike, along with a large backpack and 20-pound lock and chain.
May meeting/swap table
No one bought my stuff. But I got one of Carol's winter jerseys and somehow ended up with Maggie Schwartz' Diadoras. Maggie, did you abandon them or do you want them back?
The NYCC had had a swap table at club meetings for at least twenty years or so - not continuously - but frequently!
Empty barrels make the most noise!
I abandoned them Isaac. I hope they fit you ok when you take the insole out.
No, but they do fit my wife (who does not have a road bike, though.) One way or another, we'll make sure they find a good home.
Thanks
"i'm glad you all enjoyed the swap table. and, yes, i expect to make it a regular feature [except for the june ""madness"" meeting].
i wish i could claim hte idea but a special thanks to george kaplan for the suggestion.
