Just started a new job and was told my building absolutely forbids bikes. Tran. Alternatives lists a bike-friendly garage near my office on 52nd and Park, but I have doubts about leaving my Trek in any garage all day. Does anyone have experience garaging bikes in Midtown? Thanks in advance!

52nd and Park

I think the garage you mention is on 52nd between Park and Lex. I used to work at 350 Park Ave. I had to park my motorscooter at that garage once, and I did notice they had a special area for bicycles. On 51st between Park and Lex, there's a bicycle rack....
Good luck and let me know what you decide to do.

I took a look...

at the garage. The attendant would not show me the bike area and would not give me any details, except that it fills up most mornings. He refused to tell me what time it fills up. He said he'd show it to me when/if I brought my bike. So if I bring my bike at 8:30 and it's full, I guess I'm out of luck. Typically cr***y NYC service.

Garage Parking

These guys work for tips. Try $5 before agreeing to bring in your bike and they should roll out the red carpet. Joe d.

Points for the guard

You should look at the fact that the guard refused to let you in the area without a bike as a good thing. Maybe he thought you were a bike thief scoping out the selection of bikes. If you do decide to park your bike there at least you know the guard will give a potential bike thief a hard time. Unless $5 does the trick. Good luck.

You're right...

I should dust off my rose-colored glasses.
