to better track my mileage, performance, routes, i'm looking to upgrade from my current method (a random mass of scriblings in a notebook).

i'd appreciate your suggestions: training log software recommendations? is the software with the polar system good for this purpose?

good riding, adam

Go Polar Go!!

I find the Polar (I have the S 710i) software very useful. When done with a ride, you download to your computer (I’m wireless) and it gives you a graph of each exercise with your speed, HR and altitude (power and cadence too, but I do not have those – yet). Below the graph is your start time, duration, average/max HR and speed, distance and ascent. Each exercise shows your HR (up to 10) zones and time in each. It gives you calories burned. You can select any area of the graph and plot it form one point to another. A calendar is created listing each day, with weekly totals. You can select any date range and select, for that period, total miles, ascent, NH zones, calories, # of heart beats, # of exercises, exertion, time, etc. Pick Jan-May 1, 2004 and see everything you’ve done in that period, as you want to see it. Also good for maintenance; e.g., new tires- enter the date bought and bring up the graph since then with the distance – you’ve got 2134 miles on your tires. See your performance go up, then down, then up again, see the patterns, maxs, mins, all of it. And it takes 30 seconds or so to have all this available. It has auto or manual stop/start. You can detail it for 2 bikes and different sports. It has a fitness test. Also gives aver/max temperature. Too bad it doesn’t make expresso!!

I just found this last night and I'm just checking it out this week. So far pretty cool. My favorite thing is it works with a Polar Monitor and I can use my PDA with it.

http://www.mysporttraining.com/index.html

Only downside is you have to pay for it (about $100 depending on the features you want) while Polar software and trainingbible software are free.

TrainingBible also includes a online coach for $119 a year. If that is something you may be interested in.

Ciclosport

No, I never did check it our vs. the Polar, tho I've heard nice things too.

Polar had great support. When my battery died, Matt at Polar replaced my 710 with a 710i. The unit costs about $300, cadence $40 and power about $300. How does Cyclo match up??

Plus I hear Polar is all wireless now!

Does Cyclo make expresso ;-)

I use The Training Diary.

interface is pretty easy...

in the future, as time permits, I'd like to develop my own with a web interface, really shouldn't be all that hard.
