Does anyone know if the Deli in town has re-opened? If not, can anyone recommend an alternative for a few large SIG groups. I seem to recall a smaller mom and pop place on Piermont Ave near Valentine but haven't stopped there in years.
Thanks

Paul, there's a deli at the bottom of Tallman, on the other side of the road along the canal.

yep, still closed

FWIW, the deli/small grocery in Piermont is still closed. I passed by it on Sunday.

An Alternative

This might be the same place Paul mentioned. I stopped there about 2 weeks ago. They were very pleasant and friendly and the food was good. I don't know the name of the street, but here's how you get there: from Piermont, head back toward GWB but ride to the right of the canal instead of to the left (as we normally go). About a quarter mile down from where you turn to the right of the canal, on the right side of the street, you will find the deli.

I found the Deli

Hi Paul,
Maggie Schwarz and I were at the deli today. it is at 254 Piermont Avenue at the corner of Rockland Rd (you will be on Rockland Rd if you leave route 9W at Talliman State Park). The place is very nice, the people are very friendly. I spoke to the owners (Carl & Mike) and told them (as per Maggie) that the C sig will be there on Saturday. They said they will be very happy to accommodate the crowd. If you can, give him a call at 845-365-2745 to confirm that you're coming. They also said if you can phone in the order, or a partial order a few hours in advance, they will start making the sandwiches, etc. and have them ready, in bags, with peoples' names on the bags, when you arrive.
They were very pleasant and easy to work with and the food was excellent. It was also a little cheaper than the deli in town. I had a tuna salad sandwich and a large vegetable salad: $8.25.

Chaim et al, thanks for all your help. We'll try that deli and/or the sidewalk cafe in town. Now if we can just work out our bathroom schedule for 80 or participants every weekend without the use of the Englewood Cliffs Police Station we'll clear another hurdle.

yet another Piermont stop

Here's an alternate if the Piermont Avenue deli is closed. Continue uphill on Piermont Ave(past the closed deli) to the traffic light. Make a right at the light and go up the short hill and onto 9W going North. A block or two ahead on the west side of the road there's a small market that makes sandwiches that haven't poisoned me...or anyone I know... yet.
