I'd be interested in hearing from anyone in the group who has integrated bike workouts into preparation for a marathon. I am particularly interested in hearing about what types of bike workouts you did, frequency, etc.

Thanks,
P-R

Bike riding while training for a marathon

I do not do it scientifically, I'm afraid. Simply, if a friend wanted to ride I rode, and when I was afraid my knees were going to give out from running I rode, and so forth. I read once in the bulletin that someone thought running helped his biking but not vice versa. So if this is true, then just bike to give your body a break from the pounding.

i'm not sure about marathons (haven't gone beyond 10k yet) but an easy spin is a great next day recovery after doing sprints or a long run. i usually wear my heart rate monitor and force myself to stay below 140bpm.
