Anyone know how conditions are on Perkins Memorial Drive, or whether Devil's Kitchen in the Catskills (Platte Clove Road) is open? I heard Platte Clove Road can be closed until mid-April, but it finally seems to be warming up a bit. As long as there's no ice, I am willing to give it a go.

I will be on Bear Mountain this weekend. It will be closed to traffic, but assuming the snow has melted open to cyclists and hikers. I will report. Not sure about Devil's Kitchen.

They don't close Devil's Kitchen, but they don't maintain it over the winter either. Whatever debris has fallen -- rocks, branches, etc -- will be there until the first road crew shows up in about two weeks. So if you don't mind riding around that stuff (which at 3 mph should not be a problem), and there hasn't been any snow up there recently, then there's no reason not to try it.
