how does insulin enhance?

When he died, Pantani was awaiting the decision of yet another process relating to a syringe containing traces of insulin found in his hotel room during the 2001 Giro d'Italia.

cool...cannibis for the downhills and caffeine for the climbs. :)

He said that caffeine, narcotics such as heroin and morphine, glucocorticoids, pseudo ephedrine and cannabis were all likely to be removed when the World Anti-Doping Agency produces a revised list of banned substances next year.

"Cocaine overdose the cause of Pantani's death

Marco Pantani died of a cocaine overdose, Italian newsagency ANSA reported on Friday afternoon. An investigation into the mysterious death of the immensely popular Italian climber, who was found dead in a hotel room in Rimini on February 14, revealed that his death from cerebral and pulmonary edema ((accumulation of liquid) was caused by cocaine poisoning. The investigators also concluded that Pantani did not commit suicide.

""The death of Marco Pantani was caused by acute cocaine intoxication,"" read Dr. Giuseppe Fortuni's report. ""Acute cocaine intoxication provoked a pulmonary and cerebral edema which were the cause of death. There are no concrete elements to support the hypothesis of suicide.""

A search of Pantani's hotel room at the time revealed traces of cocaine, as well as several used packets of anti-depressants. It was known among his family and friends that he had a cocaine habit, and police are now looking for suspects who could have supplied Pantani with the drug before his death.

A full report on the death of Marco Pantani is expected to be made within two weeks."

Pantani

"An inquest into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of fallen Italian cycling hero Marco Pantani has found that he died of a cocaine overdose, the Ansa news agency reported Friday.

""The death of Marco Pantani was caused by acute cocaine intoxication,"" according to the draft report by doctor Giuseppe Fortuni for prosecutor Paolo Gengarelli.

The report found that there was not enough evidence to support the theory of suicide and that Pantani died as a result of swelling to the brain and lung tissue as a result of cocaine poisoning.

""Acute cocaine intoxication provoked a pulmonary and cerebral oedema (fluid) which were the cause of death,"" the report concluded. ""There are no concrete elements to support the hypothesis of suicide."" The complete report is to be published in two weeks, according to Reuters.
