Are there cars on the peripheral road in Central Park during the week now? Are there some hours when cars are not permitted on the peripheral road during the week? Thanks.
No Cars in Central Park--When?
"The Park is closed to traffic on Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 3:00pm, and 7:00pm to 10:00pm, and weekends from 7:00pm Friday to 6:00am Monday.

The southeast portion of the park, from the entrance at 59th and 6th to the exit at E 72nd, is open to cars from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Even with the posted hours, cars are still in the park until the police or park workers close the gates. Signs and rules seems to be ignored.
It is not unusual for cars to still be entering the park at 7:15pm on week days. So, you need to keep an eye over your shoulder until 7:30 or so.
You too can close gates. If you wait until 7:01 to do so, you will be applauded. I've done it many times. It makes the park nicer for all of us.

At 7:02 we should group up, take the whole road and ride a slow warm up lap. If cars are in the park when it's closed to them and discover it is not a timesaver they will change their habit... or at least we get the satisfaction of annoying them as they do us.
