Does anyone know of free/cheap bike parking near Houston & Hudson? My company is about to move offices and it's looking unlikely that we'll be able to bring bikes into the building.

thx

Just a thought. Did you inquire at Pier 40? (nm)

Bike Parking

Hello Andy,

I work at Spring and 6th ... my office allows me to bring my bike in. There are a few parking garages in the area. Broome and Varick has one. Another is on Spring between Hudson and Varick.

You should take a ride down to this area and see what your closest options are. I'm sure you'll find something indoors closer to Houston.

I enter the building usually by freight elevator ... unless it's closed, I enter via front entrance. If I go in before the freight elevator opens, I'm allowed through the front.

Good luck,
diane

Bike access to your workplace - put it in writing!

How big is your company Andy, and how long have you worked for them? A cycling advocate friend of mine was just telling me that companies who request bicycle access to their building as a clause in their lease often get permission granted. If you've been with your company for a while and are in good stead, this is not an unreasonable request to make of your employer.

If the building has a freight elevator, the guys who operate it aren't likely to care that much whether they're hoisting a guy with his bike or a delivery guy with a hand truck. The freight elevator ops at the building where I work think it's cool that there are bike commuters in the building. One of them keeps telling me that I should be in the next Survivor series for having biked in cold weather. Good Luck!
