A triple thank you to Maggie Schwarz, and thank yous to Stan Oldak, Don Montalvo, Rob Kohn, ye editor Ludwig (cookies) Vogel, Tom Laskey and Eva Wirth. Many, if not most of you, should receive your February Bulletin in tomorrow's mail. . . . certainly by Friday.
Thank you
"I registered for e-bulletin only. This would be ok as my one annual issue with name and member number on the back of the membership card except for a minor detail - the card states ""Valid Through 2003.""
Oops ;^/"
Christian (my husband) and I also got the print bulletin, despite the fact that we signed up for the e-bulletin only option (at the reduced rate). Did we get one issue of the print bulletin so that we would have a membership card? If so, I have one issue with this - the mailing label is in his name only and we joined as a couple.

Likewise for myself. My guess is that e-bulletin only will become effective after the 3 month grace period ends in March for membership renewal. The grace period also benefits the volunteer staff in addition to the club members at large.
It is much more expedient to administer and satisfactory sending printed bulletins to all members than to get up-to-the-minute info and it with coordinate membership & mailing volunteers on who-gets-what and who has currently renewed v. who has not. This is especially so now when there's a big influx of renewals coming in.
With 1,500 members or so, roughly a 3 month renewal season and one volunteer membership director leads me to make such an inference.
"I don't think that a 3 month lag time, as you suggest, is the explanation for why you and I received print bulletins. I say this with some certainty because, for reasons that were never known to us, my husband and I never got the print bulletin before although we were both members. When we got the bulletin in the mail yesterday we took it as a sign that our membership renewal had been processed incorrectly.
Evan's post suggested to me that the reason why we received the print bulletin was so that we would have a make-shift ""membership card"". My post was meant to say ""aha!"" and to point out that this idea wouldn't work for ""couple"" members unless both names were listed on the label.
Look, nobody's knocking the volunteer membership director, bulletin editor, mailing staff, etc, etc. I just want to be a good citizen, only get what I paid for, but also enjoy the benefits of being a club member in good standing."
What membership card?
Seems awfully nervy to ask for your NYCC discount AND force the shop guy to check your membership status for you because you don't have a membership card, but why don't you try it and let us know how it works out?
