Now we're in the winter season are you missing that adrenaline rush of going downhill at 35 mph? Missing the burn in your quads?

You may be in desperate need of a day of downhill skiing.

I'm a NYCC member and am leading some one-day ski trips for the Appalachian Mountain Club (www.amc-ny.org) to Ski Windham in the Catskills (2 1/4 hours north of NYC). The first one is this Saturday, January 10th. You should come!

It s pretty informal -- people meet up, get a discount on lift tickets (and a free beginner lesson and discounted ski rentals if you need), match up according to skiing ability (if you want), then all meet up for lunch and/or après ski. No extra fees, people just buy what they need-lift ticket, ski rentals, food etc. For info on the mountain or to get driving directions see www.skiwindham.com. There's also a bus that leaves from midtown. Novices welcome. Ski equipment rentals available at the mountain. Cost is $42 for life tix plus a free beginner lesson, $60 including rentals.

Meet at the Guest Services Desk between 9:00 and 9:15AM to get group discounted lift ticket and so skiers of similar abilities can match up.

I ll be leading three additional AMC-organized one-day trips to Ski Windham all on Sundays: February 1, February 29 and March 14.(I picked Sundays so they don t conflict with any SIG obligations).

E-mail with any questions at [email protected] for more info or if you need or can offer a ride. Or call 212 744-7083

Lift Lines and Traffic

Windam is actually a lot nicer than Huntah... but unfortunately, one travels the same roads

I see no reason though why we can't get a crowd together to go further north (Sugarbush/Smugglers/Jay Peak) for a 3 day weekend in Feb
