For a snowfall without a base under it, conditions were very nice in Central Park today.

The conditions got better as the day wore on. There was lots of snow but it was soft. Made skating interesting. Will be much better tomorrow and Wednesday, for those who don't have to work...

Ski skating

The horse trail around The Reservoir of Central Park appeared to have been rolled down. This was fine for skating. And, because it was compressed evenly, there were no walking holes on it. There was a kick and glide track on the inside as well.

I like the more remote parts of this loop as well as the more isolated areas of The Sheepmeadow. The illusion of being solitary with nature emerges at times.

Skating

Hank, Fahnstock was well cared for. Problem was the turnout was fairly light, so the snow continued to have too much air in it. Another day or so and the air is pushed out by all the rolling they are doing. Of course, we'll be able to ride by then anyway.
