Rain 8-9 AM, Clear Later

Looks like it is going to be raining from 8-9 AM but it is supposed to be fine the rest of the day.
Maybe we will start the rides to the picnic at 10, stay tuned.

Weather Channel radar shows Very slow moving rain patch

"Based on the weather channel's radar page (pull up the following radar and animate the map to watch how slowly this is going over a one-hour period).

http://www.weather.com/weather/map/10034?name=dopplerradar300mile_large_animated&day=1

Seeing how slowly the back edge of this is moving over the last hour, it looks to me like it may be over us most of the morning... (In case the url doesn't post properly it is the weather channel, www.weather.com, put in your zip code, then 300 mile radar, large map, animate."

The Picnic

It is raining in Manhattan now. We need either an all over delay or a second 10 AM departure for those who will melt from a little rain (like my sweet self)

Rain Delay, Picnic is ON

Take a look for yourself, I think the wet stuff will finish in an hour or so.
Meet at the boathouse 10AM and proceed as planned.

Very nice radar map, but it's moving very slowly

Check out how far the back edge of the rain blob has moved in the last hour. (It's moved from Allentown to Easton - about 30 miles) Extrapolate that by adding a few more hours to the advance of the back edge of the blob. The math is not encouraging even for a 10am start unless it speeds up to cover more than half the width of NJ in an hour.

It's raining in Midtown...

...at 9:35.

I have been looking forward to this picnic! If it might be delayed again with better prospects, I'm willing to wait.

C12-13 all class club ride from GWB cancelled

Since I listed cancellation condition of 50% precip, the Weather channel lists that now for the day, AND most important, the radar shows plenty of rain to our west, it's rained already here at the foot of the Cloisters (our lunch spot) and it's drizzling currently, I'm cancelling today's ride.

Thanks Eva and ride leaders

For arranging another fun club event!

I showed up at the start late, arrived at the picnic late--but I still got a sandwich at the end, and a nice grassy spot to lounge around on. And it turned out to be a nice day.

Best Picnic after our Tour de Bronx

Eva,
You catered the best picnic ever- even held the rain at bay until way after we got home.
Van Cortland Park Tour de Bronx was a lot of fun, especially since we were looking forward to lunch!
Isaac organized us, Gary showed the way. Hey, now I know my way around the Bronx!
