After my recent accident, I was sent to an orthopedist, who unfortunately is not covered by my insurance (and decided to test my range of motion on a broken clavicle and scapula!!).

I'm sure there are many of you out there who've had similar breaks. Can anyone recommend a good orthopedist, preferably on the East side? I may have to have surgery, so if they have expertise in clavicle surgeries, even better.

Thanks!

Dr. Frank Cordasco - practices at Hospital for Special Surgery and has an office on E. 71st St. (or thereabouts) - specializes in shoulders and knees - don't know which insurance he accepts (but I know he no longer takes my Aetna HMO). Phone # 212-606-1636.

Orthopedist

Dr. David Fleiss
901 5th Ave. (71st St.)
(212) 988-9400

He's done three operations on me (two shoulders, one knee), all with excellent results, and I trust his judgement. I don't know if he takes your insurance, but he seemed to take everything a few years ago.

Good Luck.

great Doctors

Dr Stephen Nicholas
who's father practically invented Sports medicine by inventing orthoscopic surgery. He oversaw the rehab of a torn menicus in my knee (without surgery, so far)
130 E. 77th
212 737-3301

or his partner
Dr Steven Lee
who recast the spiral fracture of my leg and oversaw my rehab of it

I can't speak too highly of these Doctors, if your lucky enough to get an appointment you should have them look at you, at least a second opinion. They do take many insurances.
Best of luck, you'll be better than ever when your done recovering,
Ted

Dr. David Weiss

I highly recommend Dr. David Weiss. He is the doctor for the New York City Ballet. A very high-level surgeon.

He is not on a powertrip or trying to sell you surgery. A very nice person.

He fixed both my torn knees and supervised the healing of my borken arm (a taxi cut me off while I was biking.)

Contact info:

Dr. David Weiss
530 First Avenue #5D
NYC, 10016

Good luck with your condition!

I'll give a second recommendation for Dr. Cordasco; especially for shoulder surgery!
