Last night it seems the city handed over the FDR drive to Macys so that hundreds of thousands of ordinary New Yorkers could watch a fireworks show celebrating our freedom..... and yet drivers didn't have the freedom to drive on the FDR Drive. All so that Macy's could put on this self promoting display. HMMMMMM

Seems the city is giving away more and more to corporate interests... Macy's is the real enemy not JP Chase... they also do that parade in November which ties up the whole west side... putting out floats and ballons to the delight of so many children all to try and sell more toys

Then again, I hadn't been in a great location for the fireworks in ages. Truly a stunning display. It was well worth sitting on a the FDR at 42nd for 3 hours waiting for the show to begin. Next year the club should arrange a group for those who don't go to West Point do see the fireworks. It does have an endurance aspect.

Macy and fireworks

I answer: You know, if I actually thought you were dumb enough to believe this false anaology, I'd simply pity you. But since what you really are is arrogant enough to think *other* people will fall for it, possibly inclujding me, I take umbrage. So pardon me while I haul out my flamethrower.

You didn't have to work for Macy's buy anything at Macy's, or be working for a company doing business with Macy's to stand over the East River Drive and watch the fireworks.

You did have to work for a corporation to participate in the corporate challenge and make use of the park.

Ditto the Thanksgiving Parade.

However, if you want to ban Macy's from the East River Drive and Central Park West, I'll go along with you.

I assume, jerk, that this is your point?"

Macy's fireworks

I had a great spot in LIC, paid 5 dollars, was 100 feet from the water. I biked there, arrived at 8:50 Pm. As for the club doing a ride there, I see no problem, plenty of room, and also, food vendors to ease those hunger pangs.
