Paris Roubaix and Brooklyn Pave
"John, you beat me on the hills as well as first postings to the BB!
I just spoke with the restaurant owner and everything is set for next Sunday, April 13:
Time + Meeting Place for Ride: 2:00pm start; corner of Adams, Fulton and Joralemon, near BK Boro Hall
Time + Viewing Location for Race Broadcast: 4:00pm-6:00pm; 66 Water Street Bar, Brooklyn
All the details are listed at http://www.demel.net/pr/.
I will be finishing the cue sheet and route this Sunday so look for it online early next week. I expect about 1.5 hours ride time + unexpected delays which should be right on schedule for the 4pm broadcast. A link to the bar is also available online with location, menu and beer listings. Secure bike parking will be available in the building.
REMEMBER, ANYONE CAN JOIN AT THE RESTAURANT/BAR TO WATCH OLN's RACE BROADCAST, EVEN IF YOU DON'T DO THE RIDE!!!!
If possible, please RSVP to me directly so an estimate of participants can be determined. If the numbers approach 50, we'll have the *BIG* projector set-up for us!
Spread the word. I've been waiting to do this for an entire year."
"Scott;
Thanks for putting this together, I have been looking forward to it since you first discussed it. Starting time is perfect as well -- a nice 2 hour Sunday ""recovery"" ride, then the fun. I am going to be a wuzz though, and ride my mountain bike over the pave..."
The route I planned is a bit longer than anticipated, 35 miles. If the ride is squeezed for time nearing the 4pm completion goal, there is a shortcut possibility that can put us at 66 Water Street a little sooner. However, no cobbles will be missed.
