On April 6th from 11:00-1:00 I will be co-sponsoring a Yoga Workshop for athletes at:
Art of Living Center
127 West 25th Street, 3rd Floor
New York, Ny 10001
I am licensed Occupational therapist and yoga junkie
and will working in conunction with a yoga instructor from the Art of Living Foundation.
The workshop will be presented in the format of a yoga class, with an emphasis on the postures that address the various muscle groups essential for various sports.Other topics to be addressed are:
- The physiological benefits of stretch for injury prevention and healing.
- The role of breathing in maintaining an optimal heart rate, decreasing stress and increasing lung capacity.
- Your core muscles: what the heck are they, how you can strengthen them and why.
- The benefits of meditation before, during, and after race day.
Refreshments will be available after the workshop.
The cost is $30.00. Proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I am interested in the biomechanics of yoga
For some reason I can't seem to get my leg behind my head.....
I want to learn how to meditate in the pretzel position and still be able to bend over and drink water from my glass with a straw...

Ahhhh, then this is the class for you. We call that the downward facing dromidary pose.
