Return of River Road Reschedule.

Submitted by jonshireman on Mon, 03/05/2012 - 4:48pm

Hi all,

Rescheduled the Return of morning river road to Wednesday. Tomorrow's temps are too low and the leaders are wimps.

See you Wednesday, same bat time, same bat location. Re-listed ride should be up this evening.

The weather forecast is 26 degrees at 6:00 AM on March 6. That is too cold for me, so I am cancelling that ride. See you all on Thursday the 8th.

Anyone else going this year?  Anyone done the ride in the past--advice welcome--particularly would like opinions on if you stayed in hotels or did the Sherpa camping? Thanks!

A radical proposal for changing the SIGs

Submitted by RRosenthal on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 7:34pm

The NYCC SIGs were created by Christy Guzzetta and Jody Sayler sometime around the neolithic or bronze ages, I think more than 25 years ago. At that time the acronym SIG (Special Interest Group) was not nearly so common, so widely used as it is today. I think at the time it was pretty much confined to computer groups. Today there are SIGs all over the landscape, and maybe they still even connote computer something-or-other on first blush before another moment's thought corrects the first impression.

rides in/around Philadelphia

Submitted by GYang on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 4:06pm

Anyone have any recommended rides starting downtown Philadelphia? 30-35 miles would be ideal.

will be spending a weekend there in a few weeks with the family and hoping to get out for a couple of hours in the mornings.

thanks!

This just in from League of American Bicyclists.....a very important victory for safe cycling and walking routes on a community level.

The only reason this amendment to the transport bill was accepted was due to cyclists like us, here at NYCC, lobbying, emailing intensely for it.
