St Hooky's Day Ride - Thurs 22 Mar - 10 AM

Submitted by CCollins on Wed, 03/21/2012 - 9:07pm

Tomorrow is St Hooky's Day.

St Hooky is the patron saint of work/life balance, slackers, and the unemployed.

In honor of St Hooky's Day, and in gratitude for the 24 hours of spring we've just had that will, by tomorrow, be summer (high of 80 by 3pm),  I'm going to ride to Piermont-Nyack.

I'll be at the NJ side of the bridge at 10am sharp, and look forward to some company.  A-19/20ish pace.  9W express, but happy to do BT if there's interest.

Prospect Park repaving project starts tonight, March 2nd

Submitted by EOliver on Wed, 03/21/2012 - 3:03pm

I haven't seen anything posted yet so I wanted to make sure people knew about the repaving that will occur in Prospect Park over the next week or so. It will be from Park Circle(at the bottom of the hill near the lake) to Parkside/Ocean Ave entrance. This is a stretch of road that has been in bad shape for quite a while now. Here is a link with details:

The milling begins tonight, March 2. It looks like it will take about a week. Milling for 3-4 days and paving for 3 days. I think you'll be able to ride but the road surface in that area will be rough and likely have loose gravel, etc. All the work will be done overnight.

Garmin 800 Maximum Cadence off Kilter

Submitted by Mkreitman on Wed, 03/21/2012 - 12:04pm

I notice that my Garmin 800 frequently reports my max cadence after a ride at 200 plus - a wish perhaps but a total impossibility.  Anyone have a  similar problem w. cadence, and if so, did you locate a fix.

FS: 2009 Cervelo S2 Frameset ($1000)

Submitted by Lucia on Wed, 03/21/2012 - 9:45am

I am selling a 2009 Cervelo S2 frameset.  It is a size 48cm (I am 5'4") full carbon frame.  I am the sole owner and got it new in January 2011.  I have ridden and raced it for 1 year and there is no damage to the frame or fork.  There are some superficial scuffs from cables and/or bike rack attachments and a couple of minor paint chips at the ends of the fork.

River Rd

Did it for the second time this week today. In pretty good shape other than the Alpine Hill. Anyone know when it will get repaved? I know TA raised the funds last fall. Also FWIW I've spotted eagles on  my last three rides there!

Good Deal on a Woman's Brooks Saddle - TAKEN

Submitted by CWaaser on Tue, 03/20/2012 - 10:43am

As you know, a saddle is a personal thing.  What's right for you might be totally wrong for me and vice-versa.  I have a Brooks B-17s Imperial saddle that has about 1,000-1,200 miles on it (so the leather is somewhat broken in, but the saddle is in excellent condition).  The B-17s Imperial is the women's version of the B-17 with a nose cutout.  It just doesn't work for me. I've switched to a different model Brooks and I'm very happy.
