bike rack recommendations, please

Submitted by EGreenstein on Tue, 03/29/2022 - 1:51pm

All:  I am in search of a bike rack for the entrance hallway in my apartment.  It needs to be able to accommodate two bikes, minimize the space it takes up in the hallway, and be relatively easy for a person of decent strength to be able to lift the bikes in and out without too much struggle and with minimal risk of it scuffing up the adjacent, freshly-painted wall. :-)

Any recommendations to share, please?  Extra credit for links to where I can view them online.

Thanks in advance for your help!

NYC Newbie

Submitted by LarryS_NowInNYC on Sun, 03/27/2022 - 10:18am

I've been riding in Bergen/Rockland counties for almost 20 years, and recently moved to NYC.  I've done a few trips to Central Park from our 1st Ave apartment, and getting to the park is quite dicey.  Between cars, irregular pavement, and especially delivery bike and ebike riders who appear to have little regard for traffic regs; getting to a safer haven isn't, as they say, "a walk in the park".

Curious for any tips...

Bradley Road Closure

Submitted by NateM on Sat, 03/26/2022 - 5:42pm

Bradley Rd is closed due to culvert work 1/8 mile up towards Nyack after turn from Greenbush Rd. I dont know how long this will take to repair but carrying your bike through the woods and down over the stream and back up the embankment is not easy.

Submitted by ThomasNY on Sat, 03/26/2022 - 10:14am
[GFNY] NYCC friends, some of you probably also signed up for the 100 mile version of GFNY (as a training ride for ENY ;) ).

I'm trying to find people to ride with at a friendly B17/18 pace (the day of the event). Anybody interested?

The B SIG rides for tomorrow are ON. We are moving the start times up, however.  Your leaders will email you shortly with the start time for your group. NOTE: The start times and start locations are different for the different speed categories.

Be sure to bring along a light rain jacket, just in case.

I won't know the amount of your donation and I don't care what it is.

Location: East 60s. (Near 4,5,6,N,R,F,Q...or ride into building).

Deadline: End of the Month.

Family Fun Ride in Prospect Park-May 7

Submitted by [email protected] on Mon, 03/21/2022 - 9:28am

A parent in Kensington, immigrant, and cyclist is working with Transportation Alternatives to organize a free Family Fun Ride in Prospect Park on May 7, 2022 from 10 am - 1 pm (rain date: May 14).  Although the event is still in planning stages, here is a summary: We anticipate meeting in Bartel-Pritchard Square; doing a loop around the park with families/parents/kids of different ages; and concluding with a picnic and a few remarks.  This is a “big tent” celebratory event with a spirit inclusive of different types of families, cycling experience, ages, types of bikes, etc.  Everyone is welcome.

Bob

The forecasts have just not improved enough, so we'll have to postpone the ride to Sunday.
