For my ride this Sunday, does anyone know what's the current condition of the Shore Parkway bike path between Cross Bay Bridge and Flatbush?

Hello,

Anyone happen to have space for an extra bike up and back to Berkshires (leaving May 24th returning 27th)?

Delighted to pay in baked goods ;-)

Is the Ed Koch/Queensborough Bridge being re-purposed?

Submitted by GeorgeArcarola on Wed, 05/01/2013 - 8:21am

Over the past several weeks, traffic has picked up on the bridge... it's been my experience that this is normal, as the weather warms, and daylight hours grow longer, more people use the ped/bike lane... I see this as a positive.

Doe anyone know about this incident?

About 6:05 pm last night (Tuesday, April 30th), police cars (lights flashing) on the SW corner of Broadway and 8th St in Manhattan. A woman was speaking with police as a sky blue Cannondale with a blue helmet attached to the handlebars was driven off in the back of a police SUV. The woman did not appear to be dressed as if she had been cycling. That's about all I know, as I happen to be running by, obviously just after what precipitated the event.

Lost: White Capo Vest

My friend lost his White Capo wind vest on 9W last Saturday, possibly by the Market.  He's hoping someone may have come across it on their ride.

Reorganization of some Top-Level menu items

Submitted by iforst on Tue, 04/30/2013 - 9:29pm

All,

We moved some of the top-level menu items around in an effort to better allign the menu items with the top-level sections. Informational/reference type information were moved from the "About Us" and the "Rides/Events" sections into the "Resources" section. Nothing was removed, just moved around. If you can't find something please look under the "Resources" section to see if it's been moved there.

Bike Rack recommendations?

Submitted by iforst on Tue, 04/30/2013 - 2:07pm

Does anyone have any strong recommendations for/against a 3-4 bike trunk rack? I don't own a car but would like to use it occassionally on rentals etc... so something that fits a wide variety of cars would be ideal.  I've been looking at the Saris Bones (http://www.amazon.com/Saris-Bones-801-3-Bike-Trunk/dp/B000BT30RU) and the Allen Deluxe (http://www.amazon.com/Allen-Deluxe-3-Bike-Trunk-Mount/dp/B000ELQNYM)

Thanks!

You’re Covered: Cyclists and Insurance in New York City

Cyclists and pedestrians are entitled to medical care if they are hit by a motor vehicle in New York State. Carol Wood, author of NycCarAccident.net, and Adam White, an attorney specializing in cyclist injuries, discuss the laws involved and how to assert your right to coverage should you ever need it.
