Kudos due to Fort Lee PD

Submitted by Sir Roger on Fri, 10/31/2014 - 5:36pm

Today Fort Lee PD where conducting a sort of sting operation on motorists just south of the GWB before the overpass.

They had the traffic lights flashing orange and were snapping up cars that failed to yield to pedestrians. And I am talking lots and lots of cars.

But heres the great bit. Their drogue was an officer dressed head to foot as Donald Duck. Yet the cars still were not yielding.

I have never seen so many police with smiles on their faces. One can't help but wonder what the lucky officer did to draw the short straw.

They are cleasly aware that speeding in that section of Hudson Terrace is out of hand and are working at ways to slow down traffic. Well done.

Scouting ride - Saturday - change in meeting place

Submitted by LWintner on Fri, 10/31/2014 - 4:49pm

We will be meeting at the last stop on the #4 in the Bronx (Woodlawn Station) instead of the 242nd Street stop on the #1.  But, the weather is not looking great so keep checking the Message Board to see if we are riding Saturday.  If the weather is bad, we will postpone to Sunday.

Sharing Our Club With The World

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Fri, 10/31/2014 - 4:18pm

We are a membership-based cycling club. We put a lot of hard work and focus into providing fantastic rides for our members. And we will continue to do that.

But we are also here to promote cycling... and, as an organization, promote the best of ourselves.

Based on my observations, considering feedback I've received from concerned club members, and in-line with good organizational practice (yes, by now you might have heard I'm all about "organizational excellence"), I think we should, among other things:

"A" ride getting to the start of the marathon ride

Submitted by crosscountrymule on Wed, 10/29/2014 - 7:33pm
Harry and I will be leading a ride from Manhattan to the start of the ride at Dunkin' Donuts in Brooklyn.

5am sharp.  There is absolutely no waiting b/c it's too damn cold Sunday morning.
Apple Store on 5th Avenue between 58th and 59th.

You can download your tcx here - http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6371390

Don't forget your lights and please be self-sufficient b/c it's too damn cold to stand around fixing a mechanical.

Proposed By-Law changes...

Submitted by EJaffe on Wed, 10/29/2014 - 4:39pm
I suggest club members take a careful look at the NYCC By-Laws change under Title of Officers and consider its long-term ramifications.

In my view, NYCC is well-served by a large Board and the diversity of voices that comes with that Board.

I'm captain of our team here at the Cancer Research Institute, and I invite you to learn more about the race and register to ride with us.

Here's a video about The Ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t1PCNeZnYo

And here's where you can register or learn about informational events: http://ridetovictory.org/ny

Please share this with your cycling friends. It's a ride, not a race, and anyone over age 18 can do this.
