Stopped crossing Palisades on Seven Lakes Drive
Two of us were stopped about half-way up the hill on Seven Lakes after crossing the Palisades in the time-honored way (prohibited by the No Bikes sign before the traffic circle). The officer did not check IDs or issue a summons. His very clear message was "very dangerous, don't do it."
I'd like to get this problem fixed. The Appalachian Trail crosses just to the south of Seven Lakes and it seems to be ok with the authorities to let people walk across there. The roadway geometry is better -- you are crossing two lanes at a time, no on/off movements, and very straight line of sight. Still, same principle at work -- it's a park, how about allowing recreational uses?
Transportation Alternatives Lobby Day: Let's get Safer Streets Now - March 6, 2018
Transportation Alternatives plans a lobby day at the City Council to support a bill that all new street redesign projects use vision zero safety standards (such as protected bike lanes, pedestrian islands, and much more) unless the city gives explicit reasons why these standards are inappropropriate at a particular spot. As cyclists we need safe streets. Please come and help get a safer environment for cyclists, pedestrians and drivers.
When: Tuesday, March 6, 2018, 9:30 - 3:00
Where: 250 Broadway, Manhattan
You do not have to stay for the whole day. Any participation is welcome. Numbers matter.
Ride Sign-up Glitch?
Looking at the March 4th Rockland Loop ride, where there's already about 6 folks signed up, yet for me, the "join now" is crossed off as it isn't 10 days in advance?
GWB Path
Does anyone know if the GWB path is re-opened? I remember getting an alert that it was closed during the snow yesterday, but didn't see one that it re-opened. Thanks.

My rant about commercialism in the club continues: 4 Questions

Seemingly a terrific choice of person and subject for a speaker, but....
Is or isn't that an ad for a service and a product?
Is or isn't that necessary to the annoucement of the meeting?
Could or couldn't it have been deleted from the announcement?
Was or wasn't the opportunity to include that part of the offer to be the speaker?

NYCCer Bob Schmon sent me this, the greatest commercial ever with bikes. (It's not a bike commercial.)
