I want to apologize publicly, and through as many channels as I can, for some remarks I made Tuesday evening at the Club meeting.

Which shops rent road bikes?

Submitted by drichtermn on Thu, 02/13/2020 - 12:14pm

Instead of calling all the shops in the city, can anyone tell me which ones may rent a decent (lightweight) non tourist road bike for a day or two?  Thanks!

Lynskey Pro GR taken in a burglary

Submitted by TWengerd on Mon, 02/10/2020 - 11:01pm

Hi fellow NYCCers,

My Lynskey Pro GR was taken when our building was broken into. There aren't that many around, so if you see one please take note.

Here are pictures of the bike and the man that stole it.

The incident and the footage of the crime have been reported to the NYPD.

Thank you!

Tim

Did you find yourself riding faster than expected this weekend?

Four hours and 56 minutes. That’s all the time it took for British Airways Flight 112 to fly from New York’s JFK International Airport to London Heathrow early Sunday. According to the flight-tracking service Flightradar24, the sub-five-hour flight broke the previous transatlantic record of 5 hours 13 minutes between New York and London.

A rip-roaring jet stream at more than 260 mph turbocharged the trans-Atlantic British Airways flight, which departed New York at 6:20 p.m. and landed in London at 4:43 a.m. Sunday, nearly two hours ahead of schedule.

SIG Preview Ride Ratings?

Submitted by jcraig280 on Mon, 02/03/2020 - 8:41pm

I'm wondering if there might be some clarifications be made available on some of the pre-SIG ride listings?

1) We have an apparent A-Sig (or is it all-level?) listings -- aka WUSS rides.  With a 16mph indicator.  Pretty relaxed description and requirement expectation

2) Then there's the DSig listings (aka WURD)..  These increase the speed (on dirt and gravel no less) by 3-4mph, and asks for pre-existing pacelining skills (thru the woods?). I am curious and interested in perhaps exploring gravel/dirt type of rides, but are NYCCs' postings all only going to be for A-level+ riders only?
